BikeErg decibel levels.
BikeErg decibel levels.
For all you who have both the BikeErg and the rower, could you give me an idea of the coomparative noise levels? I live in a Condo and my downstairs neighbor used to always complain about the rower (model C) until I found an effective rubber mat that dampened the sound enough. I really want the concept2 over the the rest of the spin bikes available, it's just the potential of neighborly complaints that is holding me back. Thanks for any help.

Re: BikeErg decibel levels.
I just got the BikeErg this past week after a few years with the rower. From on the bike it is much quieter and I have not figured out why. Not sure how that translates to neighbors above or below - both of mine are on a basement floor (and I don't have neighbors). There is a belt vs a chain on the rower - that may be a reason why. I don't have to have the music near as loud for the BikeErg...

Re: BikeErg decibel levels.
Bike is quietest of the three. At 500-600 watts the noise can pick up a bit. But at normal training watts (200-300) it is very quite.
Often my son rides the BikeErg in the morning when i'm making breakfast in the next room. I can just hear the faintest sound that he is on the BikeErg.

Thanks for the replies. I have confidence my rabbit eared neighbor will not be bothered. For me, Of all the "spin bikes" out there, the BikeErg seems to have everything going for it

Re: BikeErg decibel levels.
The bike should be quieter, the power going into the flywheel is more constant.
The Erg has massive power peaks during the drive that are like 3 times higher than the "Average power" to compensate for the recovery phase.
2 minute pace on the rower would be like putting in 600 watts on the bike for the equivalent noise.

Re: BikeErg decibel levels.
Using an app on my phone and phone in cradle on top of PM I recorded the below. App is certainly not scientifically accurate, but good enough for this comparison. Fan housing set on 5 and I maintained a rate of 2 minute per 500/1000m.
Rower- 75db
SkiErg- 75db
Bikerg- 67db
My perception is the rower is slightly louder than the SkiErg due to chain and seat rollers. Bike is noticeably more quiet.
I don’t find any of the machine loud however.

Re: BikeErg decibel levels.
Hello. Do you have any experience with the erg bike and your neighbors? Are they heard it?
Re: BikeErg decibel levels.
I've had the Bikeerg since the end of january. While my neighbor has heard and complained a few times about the noise from the rower, she has never once heard the BikeErg.
Re: BikeErg decibel levels.
Thank you. You helped me a lot.
Re: BikeErg decibel levels.
I should add. My riding style on the Bikeerg is basically just spinning at a low resistance rate. If you increase the drag and really push it, it is a bit noisier. Just not nearly as loud as my rower.
