1,000,000 metres in a week!

Not me but a fellow Pilot Gig rowing mate. Dorset Indoor Rowing organised a virtual race around the South West Coastal Footpath ‘Conquer the Cape’ starting on 1 May. The idea being people would log their weekly progress. Rob Horrell from North Devon did the 723,000 metres in 4 days, 23 hours and 52 minutes - just over 144,000 metres a day!!
He then went on to complete the round 1 million metres - I think he did it within a week but may have strayed over. Not been able to confirm it.

That is an exceptionally disgusting idea, no matter how slow you pace it. I have nothing but total admiration for that level of suffering and dedication.

Wow, that’s obscene. I can’t ever image doing that!

That's 10-12 hours of rowing a day, for 7 days straight.
No thanks :D

Very impressive! I feel confident saying I could NEVER do that. In fact, for me that is about 10 - 12 months worth of rowing. Are you an android?

Hi Guys,

Thanks To Tony for the Mention.
My name is Rob Horrell , as Tony said I did row a million m starting on the 1st of May 2021 in a time of 7days 12hours.
I set a British and World record for my age and Weight.
To be honest I have not been on a ergo much since (I think it now haunts me lol).
I targeted 10k a hour with stretching and drinking breaks every hour. I started at 6am and finished at 12 midnight, with breaks of and 45mins to an hour every 50k which soon became 30k. I completed the race of 725km in 4 days 23hr 55mins, then went on and completed the next 275km 2 days 12hrs
i took in 60,000 calories in the first 5 days. recovery was months

Sorry it took a while for this comment but I only just came across it.

Thanks to you all for your comments

Good to hear from you, Rob.
Unfortunately due to Covid we’ve not been able to catch up - maybe Scilly next year?
I know people on here will be interested in your story. What training did you do leading up to the record?

That distance in that time is inconceivable to me... Congratulations again on your achievement.
