Hi
I'm returning to rowing as I have a fell running injury atm.
I have googled and searched this site for the Boat Race Test standards ie expectations for 16 mins for specific age groups but I can't find it anywhere!!
Could somebody help me with a link please?
All the best
PCD

The boat race is 4 miles 374 yds (6.8Km).
If you can do that in 16'19" you are a world class rower and I'm fairly certain that your coach will have the details of any ergo tests you need to do.
There's nothing on here for that.

If you mean the Boat Race over the Putney to Mortlake course, you'd need to erg at around 400 Watts in a 2k test (6:20), to be considered. The Oxbridge boatrace takes anything from 18 to 20 minutes, according to the state of wind and tide. It's rowed on the flood but if there's landwater coming down and/or a headwind, it slows. The erg equivalent is roughly 5000m.
If you look at
https://log.concept2.com/rankings you can see what others of all ages etc can do over all the standard distances.

Ok thanks I understand the 5000m reference and the Boat Race itself, bit there definitely used to be standards for what you could achieve in 16 mins available on the concept 2 website. Depending on lwt or hwt and age cat, you could gauge by the distance you achieved how well you were doing eg 3800 m for a lwt 50-55 would be good for example and 3950m done in 16 mins very good... these are made up examples to illustrate my point. I am not imagining this..these charts used to be freely available!

I used to do 16 mins 19 secs as a challenge when there was a Concept2 one for this each April. The last time I did was April 2014 - cannot find any stats on this now

One of the ways I predict what I may do over a fixed distance on the erg is using the Free Spirits' pace predictor you dial in your two closest distances (or times) to the distance (or time) and what distance (or time) the race is over and the web page tells you your likely pace and time or distance.
see
https://www.freespiritsrowing.com/forum ... -predictor
I usually find it is pretty close.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems the 16 min test doesn't exist anymore but they say all pages on the internet are there forever so I'm determined to find it!!
