April Fools' 2024 Challenge Progress
April Fools' 2024 Challenge Progress
Hi,
As we're about half-way through the April Fool's Challenge for this year, I was wondering how people are doing, now that the distances are starting to ramp up?
I'm finding it OK so far, although the weekends are hardest for me, as rarely row on Fri/Sat/Sun. I prefer to get my session out the way first thing in the morning, but on Saturdays I do a 5km parkrun, and Sunday mornings I have other commitments (junior parkrun!), which means I end up rowing either soon after my run or in the afternoons. So not looking forward to the 13km and 14km this coming weekend.
Good luck for the rest of the challenge!

Re: April Fools' 2024 Challenge Progress
I'm equivocating as to whether to complete it. When I first saw it, I thought "that's going to mess up my training schedule, so I won't do it." But then I got a string of 6 days without thinking about it, and a 7th with very little extra erg time. Today is the first day that I'm staying on (as we speak, so to speak) extra to make the cut.
I still think it would be silly of me to do the 15 days, but I feel like the proverbial frog being boiled ... the temperature rises so slowly that I don't think to jump out of the pot.

If I would only row, I would go for it, but as my gym sessions are very intense, this conflicts with such kind of challenges
5k for mud season madness was ok, as I can do that distance in the gym as warmup, but ramping distances don't fit well into training regime for me...

If I wasn't training for a charity walking event, I might consider this, but I'm already loading up on exercise, and trying to do 14k on a day that also includes a three hour drive, a four hour hike and a night out with mates isn't going to be possible, or advisable.

I'm enjoying the challenge and starting to break it into chunks now, but I'm wondering why I don't appear on the Honor board. I have my privacy settings set to:

Appear on Honor Boards: Checked
Show age: Checked
On the April Fools challenge page:
Your April Fools' Streak
7 out of 15 days.
Thanks for any help!

Sounds like it hasn't given you credit for today (April 8). Do you see 8km on you log?dougpine070 wrote: ↑April 8th, 2024, 11:26 amI'm enjoying the challenge and starting to break it into chunks now, but I'm wondering why I don't appear on the Honor board. I have my privacy settings set to:

Yes, they're all in my online log from Day 1.
Re: April Fools' 2024 Challenge Progress
In that case, I would suggest contacting Concept2 - they're usually pretty helpful: https://log.concept2.com/contact

Thank you. It's good to hear that they're responsive. I assumed they wouldn't be.

Re: April Fools' 2024 Challenge Progress
It's been fine so far, only had to do a couple of "just get the KMs done for today" because of life getting in the way, everything else has been covered by my training program with warm up and cool down included.
Only day I need to add in some extra time, if everything goes to plan, is Monday as I'll fall 2km short. So just an extra 10 minutes will easily get me over the KMs required.
Having said that, Saturday is going to be the hard day. I have a rugby game in the afternoon so I need to get the 13km done very early to give myself enough time to recover for the game in the arvo. Should be alright as I am thinking of just doing 60 minutes UT2/3 pace so not too taxing.

Or slower. It takes a lot less energy to go just a little bit slower.contdrift86 wrote: ↑April 10th, 2024, 5:32 pm
