Million Metre March
Million Metre March
I’m planning on rowing a million meters between jan 1st and 31st March .
Anyone out there with any advise on how to tackle this?
I’ve not rowed since June 17 when I completed 418km in just over 3 weeks.

12-15k six days a week - make sure you have a rest day. If you have a chance to do 20k in a day to get a little ahead is good. Try not to get behind so that you have to chase. Maybe 2 shorter sessions rather than one longer one. Protect your butt.Rubicon wrote:I’m planning on rowing a million meters between jan 1st and 31st March . If you keep the intensity low enough, you wont have a problem, easy rowing is like easy cycling, you can do it all day long.
Start out carefully, slowly build the volume.
Use good shorts, keep your skin in one piece.

Thanks for the reply’s giy’s
So good shorts a rest day and just keep plugging away.
I’m looking at sessions of 5k 4K 3k 2k1k 500 with rests of about 3 mins between.
And a 24hr clock session from 1800 down which is about 17k alternate these and I shouldn’t fall too far behind.

As for why, it gives me a target to aim for and some focus. As for why so on and off, my initial row 418km was as a fundraiser for TEAM RUBICON a disaster response charity, in which I raised £1250. Since completing that row I have been deployed to Uganda and the Caribbean with Team Rubicon so been off the erg.

And here was me thinking you must be either a massive Rubicon Trail fan or a fellow Jeeper Regardless, great cause and interesting post - I am looking to row a marathon in the next few months and I'm thinking I might start rowing in my cycle shorts to see how my butt feels.Rubicon wrote:As for why, it gives me a target to aim for and some focus. Good luck with the marathon, I am thinking of factoring one in along the way.
I too wear cycling shorts and have purchased one of them foam pads. No major problems at all so far, but saying that I’m only 200km in 1/5 of the way.
Good luck with the marathon mate, I will keep an eye out for ya.

Under three months. Very consistent! What’s your next goal?
