Is it just me...?

Hi all,

Not to look like a dark cloud here, but I was looking at some distances rowed for the challenge and the math just jumped out at me.

Are some people really rowing 53+k every day of the month??? Is that even possible?

Granted I'm still new to rowing, but some people are logging marathon+ distances every single day of the month so far. what really made it look odd is that the uploaded distances from the C2 card are nowhere near the others. I'm sure it's possible, but the probability???

I just thought it was a bit odd and super-freakish in the endurance arena if it's legit. If you're cranking em out... more power to you!

There are people who do 50k+ a day every day and the scores you are seeing are most likely legit. If I spent 4 hours on the erg every day I would be a negligent father, not to mention overtrained... Keep your sessions reasonable.

There's a guy, Dave Holby, who sits on his erg in the shopping centre in my town and he rows about 60K five days a week. His goal is to complete 40,075,000 metres (that's the approx distance round the equator) within three years to get into the Guinness Book of Records.

He is completely, certifiably insane, but is doing it for our UK breast cancer charity.

It's slow around 2:30 pace, but his times and distances are being logged and verified by the shopping centre security guards.

I bid him "the best of luck" and other sentiments every time I see him.

I was excited and a little nervous about my 300K goal for the JVTC. It'll be the most I've rowed in a month. Logged my first 12K on Jan 1, only to see that a woman on the Sub7 team had already rowed 100K in a single sitting. What? Made my 12 seem a little silly :? ... but only for a minute. Because it's all relative, you know?

Even if I had the time, I can't imagine having the patience for the really big meters. More power to the people who can do it, though.
