The 2008 Team Moto Madmen and Women
Well if it's 2k I just did mine this morning. It went really well and I took 6 seconds off my PB, down to 7:52.5. That was good enough for a gold medal in my age group -although the girl who beat me last year wasn't there this year. But whatever, I'm more stoked about the time and about how I pulled off my race plan perfectly.C3H6O3 wrote:Either way. We just need to establish a distance or time.

Phew, that was close. Almost got beat by a 42 year old women.

Nice job, Michelle.

We'll why don't we just make it the 2000M then, since it's also the most common race distance anyway. I'd prefer something longer, but we can do that next.
Not that it really matters, because it seems there is only a couple of us out of the team of 46, that are posting on this thread now.

CRF 230 in the drink. I have a 250X also. The 230 is my extra "buddy" bike. My young adult son also rides this, when he comes up. Plus I use it as my snow bike and screw around machine, when I don't want to put time on my race bike. I also just bought a KTM 450 EXC, that I intend to use for CO trips and DS rides. Got a few others too. You can never have too many dirt bikes.125shifter wrote:That's an F... who rides that? Do you have an X and an F? My wife has an 07 230 too - I love to moto that thing in my yard - all .25 acres of it - can really lay that thing over! At least it's quiet and it don't ps the neighbors off.2whlrcr wrote:CRF 230 in the drink. I have a 250X also. The 230 is my extra "buddy" bike. My young adult son also rides this, when he comes up. Edit: BTW, I've already bagged 57.9kM this month - all (3) days of it! I know it may not be much for you old salts, but I'm going for 400kM in Feb.
I'm not doing something right... I haven't rowed for long, but that 7:52 time would be when I dropped over dead. I ain't out of shape either... must just need more time on the machine.michelle wrote:Well if it's 2k I just did mine this morning. It went really well and I took 6 seconds off my PB, down to 7:52.5. Your technique could be bad, but my guess is you just don't know how to pace yet. You can't do a 2000M WFO from the start. You have to pace yourself and have a plan from the start.125shifter wrote:I'm not doing something right... I haven't rowed for long, but that 7:52 time would be when I dropped over dead. And don't forget your comparing yourself to real rowers. People who have rowed for years and train specifically for rowing. It would be pretty arrogant of all of us, to expect to keep up with them. Michelle is a real rower and a damn good one for her age and gender. (Maybe you can out moto her?

We could start our own challenge and post it on RacerX VT. We should all brainstorm a good one or let’s make a month long challenge that goes along with the calendar. Example: Day 1 5000 meters 100 crunches Day 2 interval pyramid 250, 500, 750, 1000 and back down with dips after Day 3 as many pushups as you can get in 30 min. Stuff like that. All we have to do is get it on paper. We can make up our own. Let me know what you think. - Greg

One time a bunch of us were watching supercross together and Ricky had the helmet cam on. I said "I swear to God, it feels like I'm going that fast when I'm out there." Everyone howled with laughter because, first, I'm on the complete opposite end of the spectrum from Ricky, but also because THEY were all thinking the same thing!

How would you tally that? Just kind of count off if you did the workout? I'm fine with that, sort of a daily workout challenge.GREGH wrote:We could start our own challenge and post it on RacerX VT. Another idea that kind of goes with Steve's idea of the pre and post-tests, is to go by your PB on whatever distance (maybe 500m) and then work intervals, aiming for higher and higher percentage of that. This could be done on any day. Maybe some days you'd rather do a long piece, but then somedays you try the 2x4x500 and chart your %s. Then at the end of the month, try a flat out 500 again.

sounds good to me we could even combine the two. If we did the daily challenges we would post the time or amounts it took to do the workouts in here on the forum. example; 5000m 100 crunches total time was 25 minutes or something like that. Let’s see what the general consensus is. I would like it if we could all start doing at least 2 to 3 days of shorter distance strength/ speed stuff and 2 to 3 days of 5 to 10 k stuff. Anything’s is cool with me. I just miss my bike!!
I'm in if others are. And I nominate you, Greg, to continue as captain. Anyone with workout ideas can email you and then you can let us know what the workout of the day is. I like the idea of working with %of PBs because that's something we can all do and compare (a little friendly competition!)GREGH wrote:sounds good to me we could even combine the two. I miss my bike too. AND I miss my boat. The lake's still/again covered in ice today. This isn't supposed to happen in Victoria. We like to think of ourselves as the California of Canada

I vote for just a single distance challenge. If we start doing specific daily regimens, I know I won't be able to do it, because I'm busy with other stuff. Plus I want to ski more before the snows gone and I am riding and racing again this month too.
Just use an established baseline PB and see what you can do by the end of the month. This way you can train or not train as you please and you can retest as often as you want.
