WRC2009..TEAM TIMBUK2..Ready for rowers!!

Post by PJM » February 17th, 2009, 5:13 pm

JOIN US TODAY to row the WRC 2009 ..great motivation and a way to stay fit and gain strength and get ready for spring/summer.Help us row to places beyond our wildest expectations..from here to Timbuktu!!!

World Rowing Challenge: A New Name for NARC!
Since its inception, the North American Rowing Challenge (NARC) has grown in appeal and now includes many international teams. To honor this universality, we have given it a new name:

World Rowing Challenge (WRC)
March 15–April 15, 2009

It's the same great challenge, so start recruiting team members now. The 2009 WRC will be here before you know it!

The Details
Each team rows as many meters as they can collectively between 12:01 a.m., Sunday, March 15 and 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, April 15.
This is a team challenge. You must belong to a team to participate. This is not the same as your club affiliation in your profile. See "Information for Team Members" below.
Teams must consist of at least two (2) people.
All teams wanting to participate in WRC must be signed up by midnight March 28.
All team members must be added to their teams by midnight on March 28.
New this year: Team members who have their own logbooks must indicate in their logbooks that they are actively participating in the current challenge. (See the Team Member page for more information.) Active participation must by indicated by midnight ET on March 28.
Only indoor rower meters count (no water meters please).
Meters must be entered online. Because of the large number of participants in the challenge, we cannot accept results via phone, fax or email. We suggest that any members who have access to the internet create their own profile so that they can enter their own results.
Meters rowed each week should be entered no later than midnight on Friday of that week. This works on the honor system. It makes it fair and fun for everyone if you can watch the progress of the teams that you are competing against.
Deadline for entering meters: Saturday, April 18, 2009 at midnight ET.
Who Can Participate
Teams must be an established "club," under one of the following divisions:

Health Club
YMCA
JCC
School or University Rowing Team/Club
Rowing Club
Corporate Fitness
Military
Correctional Facility
Rehab Center or Hospital Program
Virtual, long-distance, purely electronic groupings of rowers and people and/or individuals not affiliated with a club will be allowed, but will not be eligible for prizes. Additionally, only clubs located in the U.S. and Canada are eligible to receive prizes.

Team standings in all divisions will be posted online throughout the duration of the challenge. There will be separate Honor Boards for each club division, so you can compare your club’s performance with other similar clubs.

Incentives and Rewards
There will be prizes for the top ten individual men and women.
There will be prizes for an additional 10 men and 10 women by random draw from all those completing at least 100,000 meters during the challenge.
The club with the greatest number of meters rowed will win their choice of a Model D or Model E Indoor Rower (U.S. & Canada clubs only).
The club with the greatest number of meters rowed per participant (minimum of five people per team to qualify for this prize) will win their choice of a Model D or Model E Indoor Rower (U.S. & Canada clubs only).
We will have two random draws for a Model D or Model E Indoor Rower from all participating clubs having at least five members on their team (U.S. & Canada clubs only).
Specially designed certificates of completion will be available via download to all participants.
Notes:

Virtual teams and their participants are not eligible to receive shipped prizes.
Indoor rower prizes are only available for clubs in the U.S. & Canada as we cannot ship the rowers overseas.
Team Support
Technique DVDs and Technique Posters are available through the Concept2 CTS Support Materials and Indoor Rowing News page for all US and Canadian participants.

Good morning,

Even though I don't show up with lots of rowing meters online, I would like to join the team for NARC challenge. I did not put all my rowing meters online for the past 8 months. Would you accept me as part of the team? If yes, please let me know what I am supposed to do to register under your team

Thank you so much,

Gabriela

WELCOME to TEAM TIMBUK2!!!!!!!

We are happy to have you aboard.

How to Join a Team: Information for Team Members
First, you'll need to find a team to join. This is not the same as your club affiliation in your profile. If you don't know of a team but want to participate, visit the Team/Club/University Challenge Corner in the Training Forum and post that you're looking for a team to join.
Establish an Online Logbook if you haven't already (it's FREE!).
To do so:
Visit the Online Logbook home page.
Click Register under New Users and follow the directions.
Join a team:
In your online logbook, click Teams at the top of the page.
In the Join a Team section, click Choose A Team and select a team from the list.
Click Select Team.

If the team has open membership, you will automatically be added to the team roster. If the team has closed membership (that is, membership by permission only), use the page provided to send an email to the Team Captain asking permission to join the team.
Indicate that you are actively participating in the current challenge:
In your online logbook, click Teams at the top of the page.
In the Team Challenge section, click the link provided to indicate your participation.
If you change your mind, you can leave the challenge using the Leave this Challenge link provided in the same location. You have until approximately two weeks into the current challenge to make changes; after that time, team membership and participation cannot change for the remainder of the challenge.
Enter all of your meters into your online logbook.
If you do not have access to a computer but want to participate as a team member, contact your Team Captain and ask if they would enter your meters for you. Due to the popularity of these challenges, we strongly encourage you to create your own online logbook and log your own meters to keep the workload manageable for the Team Captains. Team members without online logbooks do not need to indicate that they are participating in the challenge (step 4 above), as they are automatically considered part of the current challenge.
Go to your log in page..check the TEAM section and there will be a menu to choose your team for the event.
Be sure to also add that you will be rowing in the WRC2009..formerly NARC.
That will be 2 steps for you to complete.

Thank you for your interest in our team!!!

It's time for the World Rowing Challenge!

The World Rowing Challenge (WRC), previously known as the North American Rowing Challenge, begins this weekend! It's time to start recruiting team members. Challenge dates are March 15–April 15, 2009.

Create or join a team and row as many meters as you can for great prizes. We will be awarding four new Concept2 Indoor Rowers at the end of the challenge and 40 individuals will receive a Concept2 Sports Bag filled with valuable workout goodies. Complete challenge details can be found by going to concept2.com/wrc.

What's new this year?
Team members who have their own logbooks must indicate in their logbooks that they are actively participating in the World Rowing Challenge. (See the How To Join a Team: Information for Team Members page for more information.)

Important: Active participation must by indicated by midnight ET on March 28.

If you have any questions, just send an email to ranking@concept2.com. We wish you many happy meters and lots of fun while rowing for the WRC!

The Concept2 Crew
