Feeling left hamstring - continue or rest?

Have been on erg every other day since late January, and post erg, always stretch my hamstrings. So far so good - until today. Did an abbreviated piece yesterday (35') and rushed through my hammie stretches. All day today a definite "twinge" in the left one. Have seen folks sidelined with HS injuries and don't want to join them. Since this is a first time event, asking - how to proceed - should I continue erging, hoping to work it out, or rest until it goes away? Thank you in advance!

I have a horrible track record on listening to my body and respond correctly, but I would do one more session and see if that goes okay or if the pain increases. If it's the later, take a few days of or try to find other activities that don't forces the hamstring. Currently been on a eliptical machine for the past few days after experiencing some ankel pains.

Mr. Squirrel, weren't you the one last week that hit a wall (figuratively) with your workout? And now a hamstring bother? Sounds like your body may be trying to tell you something. Pushing yourself hard is not always a good plan for long lengths of time without a break. And adding some cross training into the mix as a substitute for erging a day or two a week takes some pressure off the repetitive use issues and still gets you sweating and works the heart and lungs. It is also nice, depending on what you are doing, since you can get outside, use different muscles, not worry about pace or technique as much and just be out there for the joy of moving. Just a thought.

Gentlemen, thank you for your interest!

Hanzo - realized the cause (see below), and taking a couple days off.

G-dub - definitely good advice re: the CT. What I forgot - I'm always sorer the 2nd day. Didn't think about the truckload of topsoil that I shoveled Saturday. Definitely the cause. Should be good to go tomorrow.
