Hip Dysplasia and Rowing

Just wondering if there was anyone else out there who has chronic hip dysplasia (where there ain't no hip socket for the thigh bone to fit into) and rows. Mine is fairly benign, in that I can sit, stand and walk with hardly any discomfort (unless I'm standing/walking for an extended period -- i.e. more than a couple hours). I'm 39, and at some point in the next 15 years or so will probably need hip replacement surgery, but at this stage my hip doesn't hurt anywhere near enough to justify it yet.
One of the things that attracts me to the indoor rower is the fact that it's a low-impact workout, but I was wondering if anyone has ever had any effects (positive or negative) with rowing with this type of condition?
