I am currently 145, light weight is 130 and our next race is in 5 weeks. Any ideas or suggestions on how I can make this happen?
Re: light weight
For your health's sake, don't even think about it. It could probably be done, but only by drastic measures, including severe dehydration. Pass on this one and, if you really want to make light weight, pick a more realistic time span, like at least 15 weeks.dsusnara wrote:I am currently 145, light weight is 130 and our next race is in 5 weeks. Here's a question for you, is it even safe for you to drop down to that weight? I'm not talking in terms of time, I mean how low will you have to drop your body fat to do it? My line of thought is if you are 15lbs over the target at this point, then you probably should not be a lightweight in the early season if at all. Talk to your parents about this (assuming you are in HS) and schedule an appointment with a nutritionist/doctor to first determine if this is a safe goal and second establish a sound diet that will safely get you to your goal.
Quick weight loss is never safe or even effective in the long run.Realistic goals need to be set so that they can be long term.Too fast may cause loss of muscle mass. You want good lean muscle mass and good tone.I personally do not feel that losing weight rapidly especially for sports and training issues to be prudent. That is just my opinion however.I am a certified Personal Trainer and always work with my clients on a behavior management basis and lifestyle change and long term benefits rather than a quick fix or fast route..no matter what the circumstance.Again..it is just my opinion as a trainer.I advocate good health and fitness and that is my premise.Good luck in your search ,
