Rowing with a ventral hernia condition

Post by EduardoB » April 14th, 2020, 4:18 pm

Greetings, I'm 72, in good health, do a lot of cycling and recently discover the joys of rowing, purchased a new machine this week, only thing is, my doctor just told me a small bulge under my belly bottom is a ventral hernia, he does not think needs surgery at this time, however, my concern is will rowing have a negative effect on it, is if anyone familiar with this condition? Thanks

My wife suffers from hernias. Has had 3 surgeries to correct the conditions. MDs have recommended no surgical intervention until it causes "problems", viz: constant pain or discomfort, elimination difficulties, etc. Don't know how habituated you are to rowing, but probably your best course of action is to start conservatively & monitor for any undue discomfort.
