Did HRV EPOC and Training Effect all fade away

Hello,

I am back after a huge long break from training.

Was training a lot between 2000 and 2006 and Suunto brought out a watch called a T6 and there was a bit of interest in things called HRV, Training Effect and EPOC.

Whats the status of all that stuff now ? There was a chap called Eddie Fletcher who wrote a C2 training booklet based on HRV, TE and EPOC.

Did all those ideas fade away or evolve into something else ?

Bill

When I did bike racing ending end of 2015 the people I did hear comment on HRV was that it wasn't a gamechanger as basically if you followed it you've never do any training! More recently I have heard the odd person in the media such as Ben Greenfield (podcast) extoll its virtues although you don't know whether he's being paid to take that view, really.

Heart rate variability? Yes, and so what? Oxygen debt after exercise? Yes, but could be exercise-induced asthma. Eddy Fletcher warmup. Yes, finally something useful.
