Foot injury

Post by Bjo4057 » November 28th, 2019, 7:23 am

Has anyone out there experience of a strain injury to the foot after using the erg. The strain/pain is on the outside of the foot, principally where the little toe metatarsal joins to the foot (the tarsal bone). Any thoughts and possible preventative measures for the future.

I can't say I ever have. I'm guessing, but could this have been caused when you were doing a hard fast session and you used the straps as brakes? I'd imagine there is a likelihood that you could do it that way.

I'd be surprised if you strained it through pressing in a stroke, unless you're too ball of the foot dominant, as the pressure should be spread out across the foot.

I suggest rowing sans foot straps for awhile. It's good practice anyway, as the straps should NOT be used as leverage devices. See link for some helpful tips.
