Ankle Replacement.

Post by sidbayless » August 9th, 2019, 8:55 am

This is/was my first season rowing. I started to get in shape for my ankle replacement. I rowed over 500K, lost 31 lbs, feel great. Yesterday the surgery happened. I will really miss rowing, and hope to get back to it in a few months. The surgery, as you can imagine, cost a ton of money. I started a GoFundMe to help with just a tiny portion. Should you, a total stranger wish to help, here is the link: gofundme.com/2srvv2-ankle
I’ll be asking for rehab tips down the line.

Good luck with the recovery Sid. Have the doctors told you about how long it will be until you can at least start "paddling" on the erg? If it's going to be super-long you might consider the ski-erg - some folks who have a lower leg injury do it sitting down. (the C2 site has some info on that)

Also I haven't heard before about an ankle replacement - did you have to have it due to injury, or was it because of some sort of degradation of the joint?

I think it will be about eight weeks. The fibula is broken during the procedure. And it’s hurting like hell currently.
