C2 Vs. Water rower

hey all.
your opinion is needed - what is better to buy - a C2 rower, or a water rower?
in my country in order to get a C2 i need to ship it, and even without the shipping, the C2 is kind'a expensive.

what are your thoughts?

The C2 is a true ergometer, in the sense that it measures work done. Newtonian dynamics and basic engineering allow this, simply and accurately, so we can see exactly what we do.

Which country are you referring too ? I would have thought the C2 erg was pretty accessible in most countries by now

If you ask about a C2 ergo versus a Brand-X ergo on the C2 owned and funded forum you shouldn't be surprised when most of the replies will be heavily biased towards the Concept 2 product.

we all are i love with the C2 rower. for me - its the erg to go, i like the feel and i developed love and trust with it.
i have an issue thou getting one - size wise and shipment wise. so im exploring other options FROM the point of view of C2 users. i think that if someone who is using the C2 like me, gives an opinion or feedback - it would the feedback and opinion that i would trust.

Check out second hand prices. Even in the UK where they are easily available the second hand value holds very well for the C2. So even if it doesn't work out you should be able to resell for nearly what you paid for it.

Of course if you don't have the disposable money to buy and import a C2 another rower may be the answer but you may find that everyone you complete a session you regret not being able to log it and share it here....

There's a few places in Asia http://www.concept2.com/company/international that act as Concept2 dealers/franchises - Singapore, HK, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, NZ - so there should be a second-hand market.

I am by no means addicted to rowing but I did at one time have a C2 model C and a water rower picked up very inexpesivly second hand. I now still own the model C and a have added a D C2 the water rower sold on. I just preferred the feel of the C2 and the data from the C2 far supassed the water rower information

and thats another important aspect - the log book, the challenges, the overall integration with the on line options..

For me, before I knew much about erging, I too wondered which is best. Of course I'm glad I bought a C2.

Is a WaterRower somehow more available somewhere in the world? I'd have thought not, but maybe I'm wrong.

thanks - in the country im living at there is one official supplier and the shipment time is about 6 months. there is no 2nd hand available. i have hard time going to the gym because of work and motivation issues ( have not erged in a 6 weeks now if not even more ) and the only one normal rower that is sold here is the water rower.

for my home use, i was thinking about space and noise.
but having rowed on the C2 for a year and a few months - its hard to move to another machine. the C2 PM is just brilliant, the durability of the C2 is legendary and the online log book is awesome.
again - cant go to the gym, at home i dont have the space and the noise is an issue.
C2 is durable, PM is at a league of its own, and the on line book is something i like a lot.

Sounds like you've sold yourself on the C2 but just can't get one easily. If you are just rowing for fitness, then I imagine the Water Rower would work just fine, but as far as competitions, data recording and comparisons, etc., then the C2 is the ticket.
