Muscle Soreness From Weight Training

Post by Anth_F » July 10th, 2017, 1:10 pm

I was wondering if anyone can help and give some advice on this please.

I currently train with heavy weights 2 days per week, but notice every so often i get some soreness the next day in my upper-outer chest area from the incline barbell bench press stuff and dumbbell ab rollouts.

Is this simply a case of me still being weak in this area and should train it more often and harder?

Thanks in advance.

:?: Bodybuilders not for nothing only train a bodypart just once a week, damage the muscle and give it time to recover.
Its tough, certainly natural, to combine different training, if your current goal is to get stronger, you have to accept pain/discomfort, and back off other work at times.

It's bit bizarre Henry... i train mostly everything at the same time but only this area gets sore now and again. It's the typical soreness you feel when not having done any work in a while. Then on the other hand, if i don't feel soreness in certain areas the next day i question myself "am i working hard enough" :?

The pecs are easy to stretch, so maybe you damage them more? Doing flies also?

On the other, pecs don,t hinder you in doing cardio, if you recover in a few days, I would not worry about it.

I typically recover a day after. The soreness is more on the subtle side when i do get it, but i get curious why just there and not anywhere else? Maybe i need to lift heavier in other areas?

Ahh... the flies i usually do them on my rowing days. I do 1 set of lots of reps then do a row... then after my cool down on the erg i finish out with again 1 set of lots of reps dumbbell flies

Nah, for instance, I seldom got soreness in the biceps, triceps I do, and thats not a matter of working the harder.
Overdoing it, doesn,t work, the same for doing to much volume, pointless and more the result of bodybuilding, which is mostly druguse, although users always try to make you believe, you still have to train hard.

i started lifting weights last week in order to continue my weight loss objective. i got stuck on the same weight for almost 2 months now, after losing some 14Kg.
at the gym i was told that now its time for weights- lose body fat, boost metabolism and all the propaganda.. i was afraid of muscle pain afterwards and so far i have not had any issue with that, although i lift heavy.
i do light warm up and light stretching before.
i Erg 5k at easy pace.
i do the weights.
i row again for long distance. i think that this is the key - i keep the blood flow going ( help to remove waste in the form of lactic acid ), and keeps the muscles working with less intensity but longer time.
i then stretch real good. maybe its in my head..?

only muscle pain i experienced was with my quads after doing squats with 28Kg dumb bells over my shoulders. im afraid of using the bar. looks dangerous and scary to me.. the day later when i rowed it became much better.

i know its only a few days but i think that so far its working out well for me.

Nice going edinborogh. Tis a good feeling when you find things are working well

Yeah Henry, same for me with biceps... only time i ever got them sore was when i first started lifting. Now i can do tons of stuff and they never get sore. Speaking of biceps i am happy to see more mass to my arms lately due to adding in a couple more exercises and a lil more frequently. Of course careful not to overdo as well!!

based on the propaganda im bombarded with at my gym ( im well known for anti-weight workouts.. :) ), its not about the frequency as much as the intensity. should be progressive in order to burn more fat and increase muscle mass.
problem is that if i am trying to loose weight, whats the point in adding it in form of muscles? whats the story of reducing body fat? who cares? all i want is to loose some extra Kg's..
