Myfitnesspal question

Post by Anth_F » August 17th, 2016, 3:15 pm

I noticed on myfitnesspal, it is not giving me any calories burned etc for my "strength training" exercises, only for my cardiovascular exercises. Very odd, and not a true reflection of things to help me monitor progress and diet :?

Hmm yeah... but thats a very vague system to calculate a true measure of your input of strength work. 70 odd calories burned for 25 mins work, yeah right!! pffttt

Depends how you do it: in isometric, the Work done is zero by definition. To do a substantial amount of Work and so burn a few kCals, we have to move small forces over very long distances, as on the erg.

I'd just measure weight loss every time and sum it over a week or month. Then multiply by the latent heat of steam. You can crosscheck the steam table value against the C2 estimated heatloss, because C2 measures Work done very accurately. Some sweat drips off without evaporating, according to local temperature and humidity.

I have done some research and came to learn it is just how the system operates on myfitnesspal, unfortunately!! There are too many variables to take into account with any given individual when it comes to actual strength training. Shame really!!

All i can do is continue to make sure i am always at a deficit on my daily totals of my food diet. Which i have been, and even if it's not measuring true on the strength training, i can be safe in the knowledge i will be well within my calorie "deficit zone" each day. Well hopefully  It's now not easy, when you get to a level of weight where you only have not so many pounds left to shift to reach that ultimate goal + i Do like my food :D

Thanks for the input, jamesg.
