Hi all,

I'm looking for any recommendations on good books to read about endurance training on the erg. Specifically, dealing with the mental elements of training for long periods!

Many Thanks,

Brendon

It has nothing to do with training on the erg, but the best book I've ever read about endurance training and competition is "Born to Run" written by Christopher McDougall. It concerns members of an Indian tribe in Mexico who can run hundreds of miles injury free with little rest. The feature is a race between these people and outstanding American ultra-marathon runners. It offers extremely interesting insights as to how these people deal with the physical and mental effects of extreme long distance training.

I just read a decent book by Matt Fitzgerald called "How Bad Do You Want It?". has one chapter in there about the NZ double. Some items in there to think about and integrate. Mostly it lets you know that everyone has to figure out how to overcome suffering or hardships. I also read "The Runners Brain" by Dr. Jeff Brown recently. I honestly cant recall if I liked it or not!

"Fast After 50" - Joe Friel. Just published. I wish he wrote it when I was 40.
