lower back pain???

our crew rows in a boat that is much too heavy for us but when we were lifting it this morning i felt a pain in my back,,, then we had 2 row 2 5k's nd its preety sore now!! :( ne tips or good stretches?? :) :?:

You should have yourself checked out. It could very well be a bulging or herniated disc problem. My grandson got a bulging disc from rowing and it took some injections and no rowing for about 6 months before he could compete again. With the wonders of mris now, an accurate diagnosis is easy.

Lifting/carrying the shell is why I don't row on the water. It puts too much torque on my spine & knees, and after spending 6 months healing up last time I decided indoor rowing was better for me.

Re stretches: curl-ups are good. General stretching before you do any lifting is a really good idea.

thanks 4 the advice,, i'll give it a day or 2 to see how i feel,,, thanks,,,,have never heard of curl-ups before,,,,, :)

hey rowing mad, i've got this inverting chair at home and it works wonders for me. maybe it can do the same for you
