Best heart rate strap for pm5 ?
I had a Garmin hrm1g heart rate strap that picked up a signal easily, but was erratic and not accurate. I'm looking for a different kind now, to use with the pm5 only, not with a cell phone. I've read that the Wahoo Kickr Ant+, and the Polar H7 Bluetooth Smart are both good but don't know how easily they work with the pm5, or if some other type would be better. Please let me know what you think would be best.

For me the Wahoo TickR chest strap has been great and works well and reliably with PM4/5.
Greg Smith has compared chest straps with upper arm ones and they seem to compare well too.

No problems with the Garmin that Concept 2 sell.
Basically its a frequency counter but because HR is such a low frequency and changing "accuracy" is always going to be a problem, you cannot get round that.
Connectivity and remaining connected is top of the list.

Re: Best heart rate strap for pm5 ?
I've been using a Garmin model 010-10997-00 for the past year. It's been quite reliable. Last week I wanted to check the PM5 HR accuracy so I wore my Forerunner 310XT on my wrist. Each time I checked the PM5 HR display against the Forerunner, they were identical.
I do dampen the sensor pads before strapping it on and stay away from synthetic shirts since they can mess with the signal, at least according to DCRainmaker: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2010/04/tro ... -rate.html

I had a Polar H7. Lasted barely outside warrantee and was dead. So was the wife's. Once the original battery died, the next battery (and I tried several) it never worked again. Never had that problem with other Polar devices. Huge disappointment. I've been considering another one. I have looked at the Wahoo TickR X I think.

I use a garmin hrm with an ebay replica strap. The garmin soft strap was erratic but as soon as I replaced it with a copy it worked well. I'm now on the second replica. Any ant monitor should do the job.

I have used the polar h7 for a couple years and have had no issues with it.
