Apple Watch Heart Rate

Post by dstarh » October 12th, 2016, 10:27 am

Are there any apps that will connect with my Model D's PM5 that will use the heart rate data from the apple watch? Also I've noticed that the watch has active calories at about 80% of what the PM5 shows however "Total Calories" are nearly exact. I'm curious if anyone knows what source of calorie burn calculation is more accurate?

I've thought about purchasing a chest strap hrm that will interface with the PM5 but at this point I can't really justify the cost.

I don't think there are.

For anybody having a Apple Watch and using chest polar h7 beware that the Watch can autoconnect to the polar and thus the polar is not available for other connections. I have spilled several batteries on the polar because of this.
Solution is to set the Apple Watch in flight mode and then connect i.e. the pm5 to the polar.

That's interesting, I've used an Apple Watch since April and it has never interfered with my Polar heart monitor. Although I switch to Rowing in the exercise app when I'm on the erg and it seems to do a reasonable job of recording heart rate etc, I've never really used the data that the Apple Watch collects.

I have an Apple watch and have no problem coordinating the HR(from my Polar chest strap)with my Activity app on the Apple Watch. In fact, it is my de facto rowing log book(I also save my workouts to my PM5 and then occasionally upload the data to the On Line Log Book). Works great for me, although I seem unable to connect to Erg Data while using the Apple Watch.
