As you all know height is a huge factor in rowing and so naturally I am really concerned about how small I am.
Basic info:
When I was 14 and 6 months I was 169cm. From about 15 years to 15 years 6 months I was just flat 172cm (no growth what so ever). I am now 15 and 9 months and 173cm. However there has not been any more growth from 173cm.
When I was 11ish I was probably just about 5 foot and now am JUST 5'8".
My mother is 4'11" and my father is 5'11". My dad told me he stopped growing at 15 from what he could remember.
To add onto this - although I am only basically nearly 16 years old I am definitely more physically developed than others in my year and for someone of my age - hairy legs, hairy armpit, and starting to develop chest hair (however I am part Italian so that could explain it )
I understand that these mitigating circumstances are blatantly telling me that I have stopped growing or at least it has RAPIDLY slowed down but I am willing to take the hard facts - if you guys have any circumstances where your growth spurt shot up, then had a long plateau of no growth for a year or two, and then even just a small growth spurt of 1-2 inches it would definitely boost my hope LOL. Nah, just looking for your guys opinions on where I'm at.
Thanks!!
How tall should I grow?
Re: How tall should I grow?
Not much more IMO. The height of your mother is always the best indicator IMO - genetic characteristics always seem to be strongest from the mother. Sorry.

Time to build a nice big strong set of quads to compensate

Re: How tall should I grow?
There is a high likelihood that you are done growing, given that you've already gotten a growth spurt. It's possible you'll grow a few more centimeters over a few years but unlikely that you'll hit a second, significant growth spurt.dansapphire19 wrote: I understand that these mitigating circumstances are blatantly telling me that I have stopped growing or at least it has RAPIDLY slowed down but I am willing to take the hard facts - if you guys have any circumstances where your growth spurt shot up, then had a long plateau of no growth for a year or two, and then even just a small growth spurt of 1-2 inches it would definitely boost my hope LOL. It's not the end of the world. For a HW you're pretty small, but for a LW you're not too under-sized.

Don't think Italians are renowned for their height either...now, if you were Dutch...
I'd be surprised if you got to your father's height if your mother was only 4'11".

Indeed, but we only got tall in the last century. Good (enough) food and not many illnesses during Childhood are reasons.Gammmmo wrote:Don't think Italians are renowned for their height either...now, if you were Dutch...
