Having a Heart Condition or on Medication ?

Post by JFMorin » January 7th, 2016, 10:21 pm

Hi,

I suffered a STEMI heart attack in Aug. 2015, and now have 5 coronary stents... I'm currently on a cocktail of beta blockers, BP medication, statins and some more... Fortunately there's not much residual damage to my heart as I was treated swiftly and thoroughly. I started rehab training last Fall and fell for a Model D..., which I'm very fond of.

I was wondering if there would be other people either with a heart condition or on heart/BP medication who would be interested in teaming up for training ?

Ideally, it would be nice if we could form a virtual team and participate in the virtual team challenges that are put up by Concept2 every now and then... My understanding is that the deadline for having a new team on board this year is next January 16...

What about "Whose Heart it is" as a team name ? Please feel free to suggest a name you believe would be fitting...

Lemme know soon !!

See ya in the flow !

YOU can create a January VTC challenge team in less than ten minutes from now.
http://log.concept2.com/team

To create a regular affiliation team you have to fire off an email to ranking@concept2.com

Thank you ! I just created the team... I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "to create an affiliation team you need to fire off an email to"... A little more guidance would be needed please ! Thanks !

Hi again ! One obvious and good thing is rowing keeps you free of heart disease, as there aren't many picking up on this offer for now ! However, in your preaching the rowing gospel, if you come across people in this predicament, please don't hesitate to let them know that this sport has the exact same benefits for them it has for you, for this is facts. Thanks !

CAD isn't something you just get over but many of us who have interrupted the progression and returned to reasonable functional fitness are in denial of the fact that we remain in a fight for our lives. The low response may also be due to starting the team mid-challenge. Be patient as many of us already row for more than one life experience-based affiliation or team. Your team will get attention. Give it time.

My aortic valve replacement and 3X cabg were done in 2003. (Which means that the porcine tissue valve has past its 10-12 yr expectancy.) Too long ago to feel any need for such an association. Sorry.
