intercostal

Post by The_Giant0 » November 3rd, 2012, 9:04 pm

I decided to write on this forum because I am not really sure the best course of action. For the past 3-4 weeks I have had pain in my side which I now think is an intercostal muscle strain (this is a guess based on the fact that its not as painful as what I hear from people w/ stress fractured ribs. I also thought it might be a lat strain, but originally it was hurting when I breathed, something I have heard is more common w/ rib related injuries). I was rowing for 2-3 weeks with it and finished out the fall season, it didnt really get any worse, nor did it get much better (hurt a lot more to erg). For a week now I have been on the bike instead of erging and it feels a lot better. However, when I try 2 min on the erg, I can feel some tenderness (in between awareness and pain). Do you think it would be a good idea to wait a little longer to get back on the erg (any estimations?) or to slowly change some of my biking to erging with the assumption that it is basically healed but is just a little tender (like the raw skin on hands that us rowers know so well).

Thanks a lot
