new polar ft40

Post by davesh1 » November 29th, 2011, 8:38 pm

Looking to buy a new Heart Rate Monitor I will only use it for my rower and jogging. If anybody owns the Polar FT 40 I would like to know what you think of it. I want to hook it up to my monitor so I can see the rate on the display. Thanks Dave

You need the Polar receiver plugged into the Concept 2 monitor for it to work and only the standard Polar Chest strap will work. The new W.I.N.D type will not work. The soft Polar Wearlink straps are great and the set-up works well as long as you soak the strap in water before using it.

I know this is a little late but Polar has a Hybrid unit that will transmit on both the old frequency, i.e. picked up by the Concept2 receiver, and all the new W.I.N.D. receivers; mostly the Polar watches.

Works great.

Now I can use the same strap, with Hybird unit, for my rowing, running and biking. No need to change straps, or wear two like I did in the past; boy, did I look like a dork!
Never use a 2x4, when a 2x6 will work just as well.
