Rowing & Achilles tendon?

Post by Ultra » November 10th, 2009, 2:28 pm

My left Achilles tendon is sore from running. Do you think the rowing motion will aggravate this?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and
He will make straight your paths.

No, I actually started rowing while recovering from Achilles surgery. I think the repetitive pounding of running is what causes sore Achilles tendons. I am finally back to running two years after surgery but really concentrating more on rowing. See click here for a description of how achilles surgery got me on an erg.

There is a relatively new procedure out there for tendon issues. Platelet rich plasma. Its derived from your own blood and can cost anywhere from $300-$1500 dependant on which clinic you use to get the procedure done. In fact I've read that PRP can help with hyaline cartilage issues too. So if you are feeling a joint is arthritic it may help to get some PRP injected into it.
