I have a heartbeat that periodically comes in too soon. In a treadmill stress test conducted by a cardiologist several years ago, it appeared to diminish in number when exercising. I was told at the time it was probably nothing to be concerned about, but it does mess up HRM readings. Does anyone know if there is a heart rate monitor that takes something like this into effect? Any I have used before take a reading and project your rate and mine could be anywhere from 0 to a whole lot. Can you throw out the artificially high and low readings and use the others (probably 85-90% of the time) or does anyone know of a monitor that takes a constant reading?
I've only been rowing about a month and want to make sure I am getting proper benefit. My internist didn't see a problem with my rowing so I may be trying to make something out of nothing. If anyone knows anything about this subject, I would really appreciate your input.
HRM and irregular heart beats
I use the Polar interface with my PM3 for monitoring my HR during erging as I am on a kind of a rehab preparing for a mitral valve repair in the Fall (I am not allowed to go over HRmax 140).
But at the same time I wear a Polar 625X HRM which records my HR very accurately and then this is uploaded to the Polar Precision Performance software (free) via a USB receiver on my computer. Although the PM3 may show HR dropouts, the 625X doesn't miss a beat (so to speak) The 625X measures every 15 seconds by the way and totals the beats, i.e. 4950 in 30 minutes.
On the graphed curve then produced you can see the momentary HR over the entire exercise session. It also shows the average as well.
Perhaps this is what you need?

What do you have? SVT? (supra-ventricular tachycardia). I had that but got radiofrequency ablation for it which I highly recommend. I still get rapid heartbeats, about 2-10 when they try to start) but they can't complete their cycle and throw me into a bad rhythm.
Still, I wear a Polar monitor when I exercise. It will show you your constantly changing heartbeat, second to second, and also what zone you are exercising in which can be very helpful. I'd suggest one of these and you can go to Polar's site to check them out.

You are not alone. I have the same problem. BobD's suggestion may work, But I am too computer lazy to go through the hassel.
I have erged for over 18M meter with this condition. So take your doctors word.

Re: HRM and irregular heart beats
I use a Suunto T6/Suunto training manager and that is great for removing ectopic beats from the output data. The source software from Firstbeat technologies also does the same thing - you can actually see the data with or without the ectopics. Ping Eddie Fletcher on the UK forum to find out more. Feel free to PM me if you need more info.nic05 wrote:I have a heartbeat that periodically comes in too soon.
