How to reattach cord that fell off handle

Hi,

I'm a relatively new SkiErg user and recently got one for home. Apologies if this has been answered before but couldn't find the answer:

I was finishing up a 10k with a sprint, and the right cord unattached from the handle and was then obviously retracted into the unit itself. Would anyone know what the best way of getting it back out and reatttaching it is? Is this a common problem?
