Ok...I'll put myself out there for open/honest critique with the hope of improving my firm on the Skierg.
Thoughts anyone? I think I'm too far away for 1.

I watched some Olympic guys doing Nordic skiing on YouTube.
I think you could come in a bit nearer, you are losing bicep power in my opinion.
You need to be below it more in order to have more of your body weight assist you. You are currently pulling diagonally. Your arms are doing all the work.
You could definitely squat a lot lower, you are also stopping your stroke front of you and end with a small circle, I think the stroke needs to be pulled to the sides of you and behind, going past your quads. Do this in combination with the squat, there is extra length of stroke to be had there, I would say maybe a fifth more.
Also what drag are you on? It looks a little heavy when you pull it. I think you would be better a little lighter, you have good aerobic capacity, use it alex.
I may be wrong on some of it, but I have compared you to Olympians lol

I personally found this video really helpful to understand how to use hip drive and stored energy

SkiErg power comes from hip hinge not squatting!!

Agree on the distance to the machine and too much arms involved. Lots to work on here.
Thanks, will take a look.

You should bent your arms much more. That way you hang in the handle much more and let your lats/back do more work. Our arms are the wink link, try to keep them in stronger position. If you do so, you can also bend over more, imo you stay to much upright.
In short, arms in 90 degrees after the first pull, hang in the handle with your upperbodyweight, and last pull thrue with your upperbody.

Cheers, maybe to keep it simple. Think being more compact when you stroke. This is very different from rowing where you try to be long and relax. No such thing skiing, also on snow, it all not full extension and long.

I think you could make the hip closure a bit more powerful. It looks a bit as though you're folding at the hips only to get more length to the arm drive, rather than that being the prime mover.
If you can, delay your arm movement by a fraction and really focus on initiating with the hip closure. Then let the lats do their work after the body has started everything off.

Thx for the feedback Max

From some the videos I've watched there are basically 2 ways that seem to be used. One is what real outdoor skiers use to train polling stroke/muscles and one that is used by crossfit people.
I'm much more efficient using the skierg like a crossfitter. If better times is your main goal you too might be better off doing it the crossfit way, which of course is not in anyway related to a good cross country double pole skier.
