Dodgy wrist, and ski erg

Hi, I had a broken scaphoid about 5 years ago and even though it healed it was always weak. Injured it again right at the start of 2021, when snowboarding. I’m starting to look at ways to maintain some upper body strength. The rowing machine does not seem to hurt my wrist at all. I am wondering if the ski erg would be ok too. Is there anyone else in the same boat? I’ve never seen one at a gym so have no idea what it is like but I’ve done some splitboarding with my dodgy wrist and it never hurt me too much.

When you say "re injured" do you mean you might have broken it again? If so, you need some proper medical investigation or trouble is in store.

Now with that said...

What movements or angles of force hurt your wrist? With the skierg, the external load is mainly directed from the little finger towards the thumb, and there is some grip work too. It's a bit different from the rower in that a hook grip isn't possible - it just won't be firm enough to hold the handles.

There are plenty of demo videos on YouTube, but I would be very wary of dropping that much cash on a machine I hadn't used. That said, c2 machines do retain their value well and are very much in demand at the moment.
