For those who use the skierg regularly, what results have you seen?
For those of you who have used the skierg multiple times a week for several weeks/months, just wondering what results you have seen. I would have to imagine that core strength and upper body tone would have to be noticeable. Has it been useful for weight loss for any of you? I have the skierg and I'm ready to really get going on a regular schedule, using it as my primary goto cardio source. My core and the anterior chain have been an area of weakness for me and I think the skierg will be the perfect solution.
Appreciate any insights you'd be willing to share about the impact that the skierg has had on your fitness. Thank you!

Will definitely work your anterior chain. Also provides a nice break from the erg, as I find it easier on the body

It can be a very usefull overall fitness tool. But it takes some time to get it mastered. The upperbody muscle are the prime movers and most people are not well conditioned aerobicly in that area. For it to really work the anterior chain intensity needs to be high enough. In the beginning that is often difficult.Path-erg wrote: ↑February 18th, 2021, 9:22 pmFor those of you who have used the skierg multiple times a week for several weeks/months, just wondering what results you have seen. Re weightsloss, it can be, but for that enough volume is needed and as with all training, if eating stays subpar, training won’t fix that.

I'm still a beginner on the SkiErg, but one thing that I've noticed is that it doesn't leave me feeling quite as hungry as the rower does. No doubt it's a relative intensity thing - upper body muscles haven't caught up with my CV system yet - but training really intensely on the rower means that I tend to snack lots unless I've really got my head straight. Not so on the SkiErg, although it is still pretty intense.

One thing I'll say - mastering the correct form on the skierg is way more difficult than the rower.
I don't think it's easier on the body. My core can get pretty sore.
Just jotting stuff here - I tell people I bought the skierg to fill in gaps when legs are sore and tired. Didn't take it super serious. But it has done nothing but kick my butt since bought it in Aug 2017. I probably have 4 million lifetime meters, still trying to feel like I have a really good stroke.

Everyone is different, I suppose. I find the double or single poling motion of the skierg simpler and more intuitive. The rowing stroke to me is far more complex with a host of nuances to learn & perfect.Cant Climb wrote: ↑February 22nd, 2021, 2:08 pmOne thing I'll say - mastering the correct form on the skierg is way more difficult than the rower.

Because of a bad back, I stay away from any movement that subjects the lumbar spine to flexion, extension or rotation. I keep my spine braced in a neutral position & perform a hip hinging movement. Some compare this to a good morning. I would say it more resembles the motion of a medicine ball slam, where the concentric phase is in closing the hip angle.

I can actually get my heart rate higher on the skierg than the rower. I don't find either that difficult in terms of technique or taking longer to learn. The skierg allows for more ways to "get there" than does the rower. According to my HR monitor both burn about the same calories at the same level of exertion- ie- HR.
I've been Zwifting a lot lately so the skierg is a nice break for the legs.

I like the SkiERg much better. Have a hernia and can't use the rower anymore. I have gained a lot of upper body strength and cardio has really improved. I do 5k every day. Intervals, sprints, etc. Also do upper body weight training. I'm 75 and in better shape that most 50 year olds at my gym.
