Should I get a SKIerg alongside my rower.

I've been rowing quite a lot from April till now and I was wondering whether to swap my rowing with Skierg.
I've realised that my thoracic spine is hypermobile and I think that the ski erg might be a means to strengthen and stretch this area. I've not tried one / is it like a lat pulldown early doors?
In addition, i've suffered from patella tendonitis and my knee cap isnt particularly tracking brilliantly ( cricket injuries and riding with my saddle too low when mountain biking) . Any body noticed a benefit from the skierg in both areas?
Also and this reflects my current approach to exercise , can i skierg and watch tv as that tends to keep me going!
Also , as a workout how does it compare to the rower and can i continue with my low intensity 107bpm HR approach i do when rowing or would it be next level lame.
Thanks in advance.
