Hi all. Do people use the Skierg more for steady state UT2 or high intensity interval training like UT1 or AT etc?
If steady state UT2, do people watch tv while using the Skierg like they do on the rowing machine? How would this work? Surely motion sickness comes into play
Thanks

Mostly SS for me, mainly UT2, sometimes UT1. Anything below TR zone, I personally don't consider HIIT.
My Ercolina is set against the wall, so it's impossible to watch TV. Small music player with ear buds is your friend.
Something I've recently discovered, thanks to Stu (dangerscouse), is eyes-closed sessions. Good way to zone out & makes the time pass quicker.

I generally do 'sets'.
One of my Goto's is going from 1000 down to 100 with :35r.
I very intensity and do different things with it.
Another is something like 4 x 1725 or 5 x 1500.
Always do reSki on these, can track my 'progress'.
I don't do too much steady state but i should do a little more.
I listen to Podcasts when skiErg or local college radio with sport headphones.

Re: Steady state UT2 on the Skierg
I do wp l4- style workouts but at 1.5 x the rate. So 16 spm becomes 24 etc., and a 180 segment becomes 270 and so on.
Had to mess around a fair bit to get the pace right. Based on my 2k was too slow so I eventually settled on rowing split plus 4s/500m. Not how the wp proper is supposed to be paced but didn't feel i had enough training time on the skierg for my 2k to mean much.
Built up from 3x10'1'r to 50' continuous over a couple of weeks. Now going through the segment progressions. Last was 276-270-276-270-276.
Of course l4 isn't steady because of all the rate and pace changes but it serves the purpose and makes the time go quite quickly.
