Spongie feel in handles
Hi folks hoping someone can help. We have recently had a number of the ski ergs serviced and they replaced the cables and since then there is a spongie feel in the handles as though for the first 6 inches or so there is no resistance and it is not connecting to the fan. I have removed the sides and rewrapped the cables and elastic and everything seems correct following the concept videos etc. Any ideas?

Re: Spongie feel in handles
It’s from the first pull, literally the first 6 inches travel
in the handles just doesn’t seem right. I’m confused about the flywheel comment as it can’t be moving before I start right? Sorry about this as I’m new to the workings of the machines.
The cables seem to be the same and the tension matches our older models they just don’t feel the same at the top of the pull
Thanks for the replies

Sounds really wierd. What is different after the first pull? Apart from the flywheel moving, which would make a first pull give less slack. There is nothing different, same handle, same cable, no stretch.TomLaycock wrote: ↑October 10th, 2020, 12:33 pmIt’s from the first pull, literally the first 6 inches travel

Have you opened the side and look at that pull? And see how cable reacts.

You probably need to see how drag is used on C2 machines. If your maintenance engineer had rowing in mind, he will have set the drag low.as I’m new to the workings of the machines.
But how does a skierg user decide the drag factor? As C2 says:
At a damper setting of 1–4, the SkiErg feels like faster snow conditions, flats and down hills; at the higher numbers, the SkiErg feels like skiing in slow conditions or uphill. Regardless of the setting, you will need to increase your effort to increase your intensity.
And also set the drag to mimic the conditions you want to train for. Thirty years ago, in downhill the only problem I ever had was getting round the corners. So most likely all my training would have been to mimic uphill, alternating and high drag. There would certainly be very little slack.

Try shortening the cables by 6 inches
