Discuss anything to do with Skierg training here:

Easy(ish) 5x1K last night 2:14s pace with some light dumb bell squats in between.

6x 5' this morning at 2:20 flat, the first time I've done that, then 5x 1` and warm down.
The weather's getting warmer. I was going to go easier today but gave it a go and felt good.

10K erg, 2:04.5 followed by
6K skierg, 2:11.9 which ended up being a PB.

Finally got in a half-marathon over the weekend, was feeling like a slug just reading about everyone else's achievements. Purposely took a different approach, setting a PW (personal worst) by about 10 seconds. With recent rt shoulder issues, knew that was one way to measure whether I had taken it easy & preventing me from going hard. Faster than PW pace was 'too fast', kind of a strange but shoulder-saving idea. Hey, it worked :D !

Good job on finishing the half. Don't know if I could mentally stay with it for that long on the skierg.

Yesterday morning. 5K erg 2:04.1
1K skierg warmup
10x500 @2:02.5 with 5 front squats with 40lb dbs in between. Avg time between 500s was around 1:40. Quite amazed at how much difference those few squats made in my recovery.

Kini, nice 6k PB. What is the temperature when you exercise?
Steve, you inspire me greatly doing a half marathon, especially when healing from shoulder issues.
I'm going easy for a few days for recovery, and am planning to go for a 30 minute distance in a few more days.

Depending on time of day, month, etc... mid 60s to mid 80s. Usually though it's somewhere in the low to mid 70s. I live at around 1600' so it can be quite a bit cooler than sea level.

That must be gorgeous at 1600' feet.
I've been mostly going easy attempting to recover from the 10k last week.
Yesterday and this morning I did 5x1' and 4x100, yesterday not getting my heart rate up easily.
However, this morning felt much better. I might do a 60' test for the rankings this coming week if possible.

Couple of easy erg days after canoeing Sunday on the Missouri River. Water is WAY too cold to dump in this time of year, was careful (and a little slow) since I was solo on this one. Let the paddle season begin :D !
Just 30 minutes on the skierg this morning but always feels better to get a session in before work to start the day.

Steve, canoeing on the Missouri sounds awesome.

I did a moderate session Thursday, 4x10' plus 5x1', with 5' and 2' active recoveries. The aim was to get in
some pace work while continuing to rest and recover, but now I'm feeling out of shape and not prepared for an hour.

I'm planning to work on shorter events in May, and to hopefully improve my times for them.
My first workout this morning after an easy week went well: 10x2', 6x1', and 4x100 with active recoveries.

Good session this morning.
5k in 23:37.8 ... was aiming for 24 minutes.
4x 1' with active recoveries
4x 20" with active recoveries
1x 30" for the skierg performance series

Sounds like a good workout to me! John, what percentage, if any, do you row as compared to skierg? Guessing mine is 40 / 40 / 20 between rowing, skierg and paddle erg. Does not include my running, which needs to increase.

Would love to get out on the water more but rivers (Missouri & Mississippi) are in flood stage with plenty of flooding throughout the St. Louis area. Several kayakers died last week in southwestern MO and know it can happen. Even the Titanic sunk, so try to paddle safe..

Steve, I'm doing 100 percent on the Skierg at the moment, plus daily loosening exercises and walking.
I've not used a rowing machine for ten plus years. Those rivers sound dangerous, but lots of fun when they're safe. :D
