Skierg pb thread

Post by hjs » May 15th, 2017, 10:28 am

Only see this topic now, we don,t have a skierg pb thread yet. So here it goes. Just recently got into it. So early gains to report.

Yesterday, 100m, maxpull and 60 seconds pb s to report.

100 16.3
Max watts 749 = 1:17,6
And 60 seconds 355 meters 124.5 pace.

Am building it up from the short side, not done much longer work.

Lets see if a few more skiers will join in.

HJS, welcome to the skierg side! Great, and different, workout than rowing. Having a skierg PB thread is a good way to show off hard work & progress for the 'other' C2 machine. Not a sprint type but hope to replace a couple of PR's / add something to the conversation while earning the right to brag a little :D .

So you finally got the SkiErg, eh?

That's a decent Watt output.
You can expect about 100W less peak power, and 5-7s/500m slower across distances then on the RowErg.

If you're looking for inspiration there are some great times posted by a few guys here:

Cheers guys, nice so see some others around.

Balkan boy, not using facebook... I do see some stuff via Instagram.

Re power, will see how it relates, its slower yes, but differs per person. Being able to rate up seems important.

Tried 2 interval sessions. Friday and Sunday. No standalone sessions, but benchmarks for me on the rower.

Friday 12x250 rest 1, drag 120 136.8/47 this is roughly 1k pace.

Sunday 8x500 rest 1, drag 110 142.4/41 this would be around 2k pace.

Both first time on the skier, gave me an idea. Will try to get those below 1.35 and 1.40. The 250 ies obviously the most "easy".

Thx Steve, still early days. Should get a bit faster still. Gave it indeed a good go, but was far from rested.

Solid result.

As you know from the rower, some technique tweeks, higher rate and maybe a higher drag can unlock a few more seconds/500m.

Certainly learning, rate should be higher, drag maybe, don,t use a high drag on the rower also. Specific fitness is proberly nmbr 1 mostly.

Henry,

Fancy giving the CTCs a go on the SkiErg as well? You can still row for FF but also submit Ski scores for the SkiErg team. Many people are doing this from several teams now.

Could be, but won,t do it every month proberly.

Just a matter of new name entry and select Skierg team? Next month will be rough with the rate restrictions.

Yep, exactly, new name and SkiErg team.

This months one has been fun. I got 1:30.0 on it at the start of the month. Haven't done much else on it this month though.

Yeah, rate restrictions means you won't go particularly fast. R22 for 500m will be hard to even get 1:54.

It's all fun though.

Tried one, after dinner. 1 min wu

Drag 80

500 22 153.2
1k. 26 3:39.9
500 30 146.3

7:19.4

30 seconds is very short.. Needed a very agressive pull. Rate 22 very low.
