Re: Skierg pb thread
Did my first HM on a ski erg yesterday (so by definition a PB!). Managed 2:26.7 pace, which was more of a mental ordeal. Felt OK afterwards, legs a little sore today. I would like to build up to a FM but would need a lot of distractions to offset the monotony. Any tips welcome.

Music really helps me. I've been listening to a lot of Machine Gun Kelly and Angus and Julia Stone (Aussie brother and sister). Get some really good quality Bluetooth head phones and it really puts you in a zone.

Managed to get my 30 min PB just over 7,100m, or 2:06.6 pace. Previous was 2:08.1. I haven't really trained much on it recently, so not sure how it happened! I really would like to commit to a structured traiing programme, although I find at my age the recovery needs to be longer than before. Ironically my rowing times are getting much worse? Food for thought.

Followed up my 30 min PB the other day with a 5K PB today. Managed 2:04.5. Pleased as I still haven’t followed a training programme as such, so just gritted it out. Would be great to get closer to 2:00 pace one day, find this a real mental challenge.

Well done JP.
I've not seen much consensus on 5k plans, but I do find that it's very hard to get the pacing right for a 5k TT.
With Henry's advice (that's hjs), I recently tried slowing down a bit (a split or so) between 3500-4500 before cranking it up again for the last 500. I think that helped me complete it a bit faster than a flat or negative split.
