Information for blind and visually impaired users

Post by BlindAthlete » August 13th, 2015, 2:15 pm

I recently purchased a ski erg with the pm5. I am a blind user with an iphone4 which still needs the patch cord cause smart bluetooth is required. I am learning as i go any hints or information for blind or visually impaired users would be helpful.

Is your Skierg PM5 up to date with v719 firmware (Or v709 if it's a PM4)?
Is your iPhone app the latest (v1.2.38) from the App Store?

Yes I just got on August 11 straight from the manufacture and redownload the app. Everything should be up to date.

In that case send an email to rowing@concept2.com with details of what you're trying, how it fails and how to recreate the problem (in simple steps), if possible.

Starting from the begining, ordering is very simple and accessible to the blind. You can order over the phone like I did, or online at www.concept2.com.
When your machine arrives, I recommend having a sighted person who can read the instructions. Open and organize all parts and read through all instructions before assembling.
Good luck and take your time, I assembled mine with help from my Brother.

Hi,
Have you succeeded in connecting the PM to your iPhone?
I have an iPhone 5 and a PM5 so I use the Bluetooth connection but I had to update the PM in order to make it work since it wasn't up to date from the manufacturer. I'm visually impaired so it was a challenge to update the PM but now that it's done it works great. The ErgData app is quite accessible with VoiceOver and the voice guidance feature is really nice. But unfortunately the app doesn't have all the functionalities of the PM. For example, you can't preset a time or distance. You need to do that on the PM itself.
