Any fellow surfers on this site? I just started rowing to stay in shape
during the long flat spells here in New England. How has rowing helped
with your surfing?

I do find that rowing helps as part of a fitness routine that includes swimming and weight training. I combine a 20 minute, fairly intense row with intervals to really get my heart rate up, with a circuit that emphasizes core, built around squats and pushups. I set rowing intervals of 30s, 2 mins and 4 mins to simulate a hard paddle out, and the circuit trains the muscles and flexibility that help me get up fast on the take off.

Obviously - if I can - I surf!

I would if I could but I live on the east coast where the waves are next to none. I have gone to parts on the east coast where we had waves good enough for body board surfing and I caught this one big wave (big for us east coast people) perfectly. I get what that feeling you feel when you get a cool ride. Words can't describe it.
