This depends on what other physical activity you are involved in and your goals.
As with most things as your fitness improves 4 training rows a week has become possible for me.
Your body will tell you when you need a day off !

Thanks. I really dont do any other training. I rowed again yesterday for my second time and knocked almost a minute off my time . I have to take a few days off due to life but i want to try a 2 day on 1 day off routine and see how that works for me.

Six days rowing, one day of rest should work. That's what's in the Pete Plan and most other repetetive training plans.shawn23 wrote:Thanks. I really dont do any other training.
If you have a Suunto HR monitor then using it's TE (training effect) function can help define when you should be taking a rest. For me rest days are normally predicated by my wife and kids and the days when I'm doing cycling training or cycling time trials.
If that were true nobody would ever get to a point of overtraining. For them the message, normally, arrives one or two days too late.Carl Watts wrote:Your body will tell you when you need a day off !

There's not really an optimum number of days, as it depends on how active you are generally, what sort/amount of training you do when you're erging, what your goals are, what your background is, etc. A simple rule of thumb as Citroen mentions is to take at least one day off per week, and be as active as you can for the other six days. As an absolute minimum if you didn't exercise yesterday you should today.
