Technique Drills

Morning!

Taking experience from training I did back-in-the-day (Competitive Swimming) technique drills were essential for success. I can only assume that the same then is for something like rowing.

I have done some searches on Google and not had much luck in terms of Rowing Technique Drills.

So, my question is this.
  • What drills are there?
  • Is there a video showing the drill?
  • If no video; how is the drill meant to be performed?
  • What is the idea behind the drill/How will it benefit the Rower?
Thanks for all your help and input!

Really is greatly appreciated!

Main one is the backstop drill, which serves to identify and use the recovery and drive sequences. These in turn serve to get to the best catch posture and then to move the handle fast and hard with the legs, trunk and arms. You can see it all here:

One of my favorite erg videos - shows what an olympic level rower looks like on an erg at TT speed.
