OK, I give up. What are the best shorts for a man to wear while rowing??? Standard running shorts don't seem to contain things as well, and get bunched up, etc. Biking shorts seems to work a bit better, and I'm wondering if there is a rowing-specific garment or if you all have a better suggestion. thanks.

I have been pretty comfortable using compression shorts, but just got an all-in-one from Godfrey's and that worked quite well (though I still wore a jock underneath it as opposed to a number of purists who insist on going commando...)

For whatever it is worth, I also use the C2 "deluxe" seat pad to make things more barable and enhance the grip between the seat and the seat

I prefer to row as the gods intended: no shirt, no shoes, no shorts. Try it some time; it is sublime, especially on the water.

p.s., I love CoolMax shorts and shirts and highly recommend them.

Under Armor all the way
Or my unisuit, either one works great. But yes, erging shirtless is excellent. The less, the less heat you trap, the better you feel after cranking hard

I'm not a man - but I really like the Zensah Seamless Compression Shorts.

Sometimes I combine these with the J & L padded rowing shorts.
