New to rowing

hey. i'm pretty new to rowing, but i'm thinking of joining my college club team this spring, because they have a novice boat. i'm about 5ft 10 and weigh 140 lbs. ive ergged a few time and had a time of 9:01 for my first 2k time. i'm sure this is a pretty weak time, but does anybody have any ideas for training? i have a pretty strong upper body, but a weak lower body. how often should i erg/ run/ and weight lift to at least be somewhat conditioned when spring season comes around?

btw, ive devised a schedule for myself, but i'm not sure if it's a "good" schedule
Monday- Erg/ Leg Press, Hamstrings
Tuesday- Run/ Biceps/Back
Wednesday - off
Thursday - Shoulders/ Full Legs
Friday - Run/ Erg
Saturday - Erg
Sunday -Run/ Chest/ Triceps

You should go with a full-body weight lifting routine done 3x/wk. Start there and see how you respond. A good book to start with since you're new, would be "New Rules of Lifting." It's an easy and quick read.
Erg on your non-lifting days.

Most colleges row in the fall as well. That is the usual time for novices to learn how to row and when the longer head races occur. By spring they are training for 2k races. If you are interested in joining the novice team, contact the coach. He/she may already have started training.
Otherwise, the best training for rowing (other than rowing on the water) is the erg. I would do at least 5 days a week on the erg.
There are several training plans you can follow. See below for a couple of examples. One you choose a plan just follow it closely and you will improve.
