I rowed for 3 1/2 years in highschool and then stopped after graduation. Its been over 2 years since I have rowed competitively but I am heavily concidering getting back into the sport at a college level again. The problem is I have no idea what to shoot for as far as goals go, good training exercises to get me back in shape, and weight goals.
In highschool:
6'0"
152lbs
2k @ 6:49
10K @ 153.7 split
no idea on 6k / 30 min
now:
6'1"
183lbs
lift weights regularly and do a little running here and there.
I feel like dropping back to lightweight would be near impossible.
Mostly looking for good training ideas and programs that would help me prepare. Im still in decent shape but not rowing shape at all. Also, what would be a good 2k / 6k split goal for someone my size at a college level.

the answer is "it depends". What timescale are you setting before trying to be competitive, how aerobically fit are you, how many sessions and how long are you prepared to devote, do you wish to combine with any other training / sports and do you have the motivation to pursue a tough training regime in the belief that it will help in the end or are you motivated by seeig the results as you progress?
For 6-12 1 hour sessions a week of an easy to understand and follow plan designed to see the benefits as they happen I recommend the Pete Plan at: http://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/the-pete-plan/ You can then add up to 3 weight sessions on the steady days and further steady sessions on the other days. And there are d3 programs with some people who can't do below 7:30. You need to talk to the coach at the college. Talk to him now if you can (call the school and see if they have his number if you can't figure out how to contact him from the internet).
As for the plan, if you start this fall, then you will be on the schools program in a few weeks anyway. What you really need to do is get back in a boat or on the erg and get used to rowing again. Emphasis technique. Don't do too many intervals to start. I recommend do a week or two of base training (just easy distance) then start with one day a week of intervals and one day of hard distance (7.5-15K)
After you look at the Pete Plan (PP), check out the Wolverine Plan (WP).

PP is highly derivative of WP. The PP's big advantage is its simplicity and Clarity, but reading the WP and the follow up is really worth while, even if you don't follow it.
