I feel like I'm not using my legs evenly

Post by fvnout » March 3rd, 2008, 11:16 am

After pulling an hour easy at 18 rate, I feel a little burn on my right leg and almost none on my left. Both sides of my glutes feel it, but how do I exert my left leg into in more?
thanks.

Uneven leg strength

Post by john_n » May 12th, 2008, 2:23 am

You may find the answer to your question here at this web address: http://home.hia.no/~stephens/rowstre.htm

The paragraph on that page that seems to address your question is titled "2. One legged Squats" and part of what it says includes this statement: "It is not uncommon to have one leg that is doing more than its share of the work in the boat and not even realize it."

That particular paragraph gives a specific exercise for curing the problem.

Happy rowing.

You may have uneven leg lengths. This is not uncommon. Consider putting an extra insole into the shoe of your shorter leg. That's what I do.
