How are the Crash B races started? Countdown?

Post by cutle1 » February 19th, 2008, 1:29 am

Hello

I was hoping to wear an Ipod during my Crash B race with a soundtrack especially composed / recorded to match my target stroke rate (I am a musician).

A question to anyone who has raced Crash Bs ....

Is there a countdown of sorts? Does someone say 10-9-8-7... etc?

How does the race actually start?

I want to be able to start my song so that it begins and ends with my race effort.

Thanks in advance

John

The normal procedure is put down your handle (until all ergos have stopped moving).

Then pick up your handle (start your music/watch whatever before that point).

The monitor has 2000m on the clock.
SIT READY
ATTENTION
[random pause]
ROW!
keep rowing until the monitor shows zero. No matter how much it hurts.
Fall off, lie on the floor, wait for medical attention.

So you'll need to add, say, thirty seconds to your rowing track.

I think I would add that one song that is played at funerals with bagpipes to the end of your playlist. Maybe you should have a backup song though that has a victory song if you win.

i have a question. what happens if you get a false start? are you disqualified?

Nope,

They just tell everyone to stop rowing, and restart the race as normal.

The Top 2 rows in the mens HWT had a false start (or 2?) at BIRC last year - its the only reason I finished ahead of them from section C (with the slow people at the back  )
