Trial Prep

Post by tris.wenti » December 25th, 2014, 4:28 pm

Hi

I have a bunch of tests coming up including a 2k and 5k test in just over a week and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good program to follow to prepare for the trials coming up?

Thanks

Too late to train, your fitness is what it is. Time to assess where youŕe at. I would do a 1300m at 2k race pace with no sprint at the end. Try and get to the end with something left to attack the finish. This should give you an idea of what you can handle on test day. Same for the 5000m. Do 3500m, try and find your cruise pace. I would do these 3-4 days prior to each test. Eat, sleep, and drink (water!); no excessive work outs too close to test day. Go into your test with a plan, stick to your plan, and if all goes well hammer it at the end. Good Luck!
