Too much training?

Post by Gowyn » December 24th, 2014, 10:23 am

How much training is too much?

Is everyday too much? What about recovery days?

Right now I'm doing something almost everyday. Be it rowing, skierg, fencing or just going for a long walk. Seems to be ok but for the last couple of days I can feel the strain.

I monitor every workout with the Polar v800 and below I attached my "recovery status." Neat tool and seems quite accurate.

For me it looks like lately I've been over doing it so time for some Christmas cheer...

The idea is to alternate between hard and easy days. Certainly to start with when embarking on a new training plan.

You seem to have had a run of "strained" days - all one after the other. This would tire most people out. It may be possible to maintain that workload when you're very fit or if it suits your abilities but for now it seems excessive.

If your tired then it's a sign from your body. Depending on your preference / needs hard / easy 6 days a week and 1 day off is fairly common amongst even fairly serious ergers. Perhaps take tomorrow off and then try that after the 26th.
