G'day all was wondering if someone can answer a question for me please. I am currently training at the gym on a cross trainer and can currently do 30 mins and the distance is 7.08 kilometres. I am pretty well stuffed after this. I am 46 years old and weigh 125 kgs. also 5' 11'' tall
Please someone tell me is this good for someone with my stats...
I also have a concept 2 rower and don't really have any times to compare however i do 5000 metres in under 25 mintues or my best for 2000 meters is 9 minutes...
The reason I ask is am I goin well or not or should I try and push harder, although I dont want to hurt myself. I was 135 kgs on the 1st may and although I am trying to lose weight I am trying to lose it slowly so it doesn't come back again
thanks for any answers.

Re: CROSS TRAINING
The bad news is that you are somewhere in the basement of the rankings.SHANE SHAW wrote:

The good news is that a lot of us start in the basement and slowly climb our way up, step by step. I started six months ago with similar times as you have reported. And look at me now: I'm close to being average

You can check the rankings on http://www.concept2.com/sranking03/rankings.asp

Never push hard when rowing, just make sure your technique is right - long strokes, relaxed and slow, with low drag. The boat in this case will go an unbelievable distance at each stroke, even 10 or more metres. This is what we want, because if the boat doesn't go as far as she could have, we'll never be able to make her catch up. Indeed if our technique is not up to scratch, she can only continue to lose ground. So row well and forget all the rest.
